FOOTBALL SUNDAY CURRY CHEESE DIP WITH NONA VEGAN SAUCES

Sometimes you discover a product that speaks to you so much, you just need to tell everyone in your life. This is me with Nona Vegan Sauces.

I’m all in for healthy and socially conscious eating, but I enjoy food too much to ever sacrifice flavour. The first of Nona’s products I tried was the Carbonara style sauce on pasta and I couldn’t believe my taste buds. Not only was it an exact dupe of traditional carbonara sauce, there were ZERO fake ingredients added to mimic the flavour. This is the most impressive thing to me about these sauces- they’re all cashew based and made with real ingredients, nothing synthetic or processed and of course, completely vegan. Along with the Carbonara style sauce, Nona Vegan product line also contains an “Alfredo style” sauce and “Cheesey-style”- all amazing! They can be used as sauce on any dish, incorporated into a dip or stirred into soups, spreads etc for extra flavour. I stumbled on this recipe when making some vegan friendly Football Sunday snacks, (boyfriend so impressed) attempting to improvise a queso style dip. After adding spices, the sauce was starting to taste more like one of my forever favourite classic Mom dishes- the curry cheese dip. This dip is heaven but it’s hard to indulge without feeling sorry for your organs so I detoured and was so excited to have discovered it’s healthy twin version. If you love dips (who doesn’t) and curry, this recipe is for you.

Ingredients:

1/3 of a medium onion
6 or 7 cherry tomatoes (a handful)
1 jar (500 ml) Nona Vegan Cheesy-style sauce
1 tsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. chilli powder
1/8 tsp. paprika
OVOO
S & P

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, cook onion and tomatoes in a little EVOO until soft and translucent. Add the jar of Nona Vegan cheesy-style sauce and stir with mixture. Add all spices and S&P to taste. Mix well and leave a few minutes to heat on low to combine flavours. Serve with naan bread or nacho chips.

*Left over sauce is great poured over rice & veggies, as a spread on a wrap or to dip sweet potato fries
